At times I'm ashamed...

...to live in Michigan. First of all, we are in this HUGE budget crisis. Well our governor (D) has been talking about raising taxes, but the (R) do not want to raise taxes. Go figure, same as the federal government. So today, Granholm states that she is going to cut $125 per pupil to help offset some of the costs. Unfortunately these cuts mean that schools are going to have to make huge cuts before their fiscal year which is end of April. Some schools are talking about having to close early or stop bus services.

So by cutting the costs to schools, we are hurting the kids that need to the school to learn how idiotic our governor is.

Today in an interview someone asked why we do not have as much money as predicted from our state taxes. Granholm stated that because of the auto industry problems and lack of jobs, people are not spending as much.

So let me see, do I have this correct. Granholm wants to raise taxes on services such as haircuts, movies, and a list of others. People are not spending as much as they used to. So by raising our taxes that is going to get people to spend more? Hmmm...not making much sense to me. She raised our cigarette taxes so high everyone is going to Indiana/Ohio/Internet to buy cigarettes. Don't get me wrong, I like having the idea of a high cigarette tax to get people to stop smoking, but our country can not afford people to stop smoking, the South will go bankrupt.

Anyways...back to Granholm. I can not believe the people re-elected her in office. It's the stupid unions that all say, "Solidarity. Vote Democrat." That was the wrong idea, it's not about party, it should have been about person. We had a businessman in DeVos vs. Granholm. We had someone, in Granholm, who wasted millions of dollars giving 6th grades laptops. At least the iPod idea did not get far.

So we are screwed for the next four years. I wonder how low our unemployment rate will hit by the time the next governor gets elected. I even wonder how many people will be left in the State. Will I even be here? I love it here, but we just have too many unions forcing the vote.
